Guangzhou Ersha Island
Ersha Island was formed by the alluvium of the Zhujiang River. On the island are theXinghai Concert Hall and the Guangdong Art Gallery. There are many beautiful scenes on the island. Various sculptures full of a sense of culture and art decorate the island and make it unique from others.
The Guangdong Museum of Art consists of twelve indoor exhibition halls covering an area of 8, 000 square meters as well as an outdoor sculpture garden that is 5, 000 square meters in size. Each year, the museum hosts nearly sixty exhibitions. The museum hosts exhibitions of contemporary artists as well as exhibitions larger in scale, such as those of sculptor Henry Moore.
Every year, the museum displays a large exhibition of the museum's permanent collection of sculpture, painting, and ceramic works. The permanent collection includes contemporary artworks from the coastal areas of China and works by overseas Chinese artists. In addition, it hosts invitational exhibitions of artworks from various cultures of Asia.
The Xinghai Concert Hall's shape will change depending on the direction from which you look at it. It looks like a swan that wants to soar when seen from the south to north. But if you look at it from the west to east, you will find it looks like a graceful piano. There are 460 seats in the hall and the stage can hold a large band or a 200-person chorus. You will be impressed by the classical music concerts of both Western and Oriental artists.
