Guangzhou Shishi Sacred Heart Cathedral
The Shishi Sacred Heart Cathedral is one of the oldest church structures in the city, the largest of its kind in Southern China, and currently in use for worship. Shishi Sacred Heart Cathedral was the residence in the Viceroy of Guangdong and Guangxi Provinces inside the Qing Empire. Following the Second Opium War, good Sino-French Treaties of Tientsin was launched by Emperor Daoguang in February 1846.
The treaties guaranteed compensation for chapels destroyed and items acquired in the mission.
