Garden of Treasure Ink
Baomo Garden literary means "Garden of Treasure Ink", built at the end of the Qing Dynasty, located in Zini Village of Fanyu District, covers an area of 5,000 square meters and combines Bao Zheng Culture, ancient architectural art, and Lingnan Garden in one. It was formed as an extension to the Bao Zheng Residence Temple, which was originally established to praise Bao Zheng. The two brick folk carvings in front of the gate have fine workmanship and reflect the fairness of Bao Zheng. There are also many lime carvings, stone carvings, pottery sculptures, padauk carvings, and traditional palace lanterns in Baomo Garden. Ancient buildings in South China, traditional gardening arts of South China, and waterside scenery in the Pearl River Delta. The buildings, the gardens, the hills, the water and the bridges are distributed reasonably and naturally, and they make all the grand sights.
Location is not too far from, and easily accessed by bus, from Shiqiao, Panyu. Takes about half a day to see and photograph the lovely gardens, buildings, bridges and Koi ponds. Though not world-class, it is an excellent place to spend quality time with family and friends. One can stop for snacks and drinks, while enjoying performances of old Cantonese songs, at the Teahouse next to the lake. Good local dishes are available at several restaurants inside, as well as outside.
The stock of garden fish is mind-boggling, there's thousand and thousand of them. There are several impressive collections of traditional Chinese antiques and arts. Zhao Tailai's antique and ceramic collection is a must-visit.
If you are in Guangzhou and like Chinese arts and gardens, this is a good place to enjoy half a day of fine arts and scenery.
